Sculpting is a very intricate and patience consuming art. Normal sculpting in materials like marbles and rocks are known worldwide but manifesting sculpting in diamond is unheard. Diamond is a symbol of purity. Innovation in diamond is an energy amplifier. It brings strength and endurance to enhance and inspire the power of it.
This sculpture of a two headed horse is so well structured and precisely proportioned from all the directions that it can be made to stand upside down on the head or ears at the sides without tumbling. It reveals its perfection in symmetrical balance. It took complete one year from planning to execution in the making of this creation.
In the history of diamond carving and sculpting, it is for the first time ever that a symmetrical double headed horse has been attempted and with great success. It is indeed a unique piece which GIA provided on its certificate with the shape: Sculpture of Two Headed Horse.
It’s being recognized and displayed at the GIA Museum (Carlsbad, California) and on GIA website. The Journal of Gemmology, UK has also published an article appreciating this profound creation.
So far, there is no documented reference of any training institute teaching diamond carving to be found. All my creations of significant carvings and sculpting in diamonds are the result of my imagination and vision followed by the search for suitable diamond rough and innovative carving techniques.
Three dimensional figure
Exceptional symmetry.
Perfect mirror image of one another.
Hand-carving without using laser technology.
If this sculpture is observed in detail, one can even see the illusion of a harness straps going across the faces of the horses.
Horse and Rider is a famous beeswax sculpture depicting a rider on a horse that was created by the great Leonardo Da Vinci in 1308. It was intended to be used as a model for a larger commissioned sculpture but Leonardo died before the model could be cast in metal. It is the only surviving example of his sculptural work, known to exist today. The sculpture is also believed to contain a thumbprint of Leonardo Da Vinci.
The two-headed horse sculpted in natural diamond is an extremely rare piece of creation. Diamond is the hardest substance and only a diamond can scratch a diamond. A diamond itself can carve and sculpt an entire three-dimensional figure in diamond, without even making use of laser technology with precision and a great amount skillset that only a master craftsman would have.
This type of work uses the subtractive carving techniques, which removes material from an existing block or lump of material in this case diamond against the techniques which involve casting or molding, which is much inferior in grade.
This diamond sculpture has dimensions measuring 13.72×7.02×4.34mm and is carved with a meticulousness such that it can be made to stand upside down on the head or on the ears at the sides without tumbling revealing its perfection in symmetrical balance.
The two heads of the horses are an ideal mirror image of one another, which in itself is a big accomplishment. Any slight negligence while working, can either cleave the diamond or create a totally out of proportion carving as only one side of the figurine is visible while it is being carved. It is a wonder how the sculptor envisaged something like this two-headed horse and has actually manifested it on a diamond.
It was immensely challenging to envision the idea to make it awestruck and having it made brilliantly perfect as Masterpiece. Nowhere in the world such a 3-dimensional creation exists or has been reported till now. The sculpture of this double-headed horse is indeed an excellent piece of art to be treasured.
